FTP Accounts
Discover more about FTP accounts and about FTP in general - what they are and when you will need them.
FTP, which is an abbreviation for File Transfer Protocol, is the most popular means for sending content to a hosting account. Using an FTP software program that is installed on your desktop or laptop computer, you can make a connection to your website hosting server and copy all of the website files that you need with a couple of clicks of the mouse. You can do this via a simple-to-navigate GUI and it is as simple as dragging and dropping the files in question. The advantage of using File Transfer Protocol is that you’ll be able to create several accounts, each one with a different level of access to your online storage space, so if you’d like to give someone access, for instance – a designer, they will be able to connect only to a specific directory and won’t be able to see the remaining web content or any other information, including private details. Three things are needed to be able to connect via FTP – a hostname, which is normally a domain name or an IP, a user name and a password.

FTP Accounts in Cloud Hosting
You will be able to create as many FTP accounts as you need with each of the
Linux cloud packages that we’re offering, since we’ve decided not to limit this service. In this way, you can manage multiple Internet sites at the same time or provide other people with access to separate directories. As soon as a particular job has been carried out and you wouldn’t like that person to be able to connect to your web files any longer, you can edit the password associated with the FTP account or you can simply remove that account with a few mouse clicks and quit worrying about anyone accessing it once again. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is included with all hosting plans, will permit you to check the full list of the active FTP accounts listed alphabetically. It takes only a click to administer different options for any of them – to edit the access path or the password, to download an auto-config file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Our
Linux semi-dedicated hosting packages are rather powerful, which makes them perfect for hosting an extensive number of sites. Speaking of which, we’ve chosen not to put a limitation on the number of FTP accounts that you can set up, so you can have a separate FTP account for each site that you host on our servers. All FTP accounts will be shown alphabetically in the respective section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is offered with each and every semi-dedicated server account. For each of them, you’ll be able to see the access path and to edit it, if needed. Also, you can set up the account in an FTP client of your choosing by downloading an auto-config file and running it on your PC, which will save you time. In case you have never used a hosting account before, you can watch our comprehensive how-to video clips, which are available in the very same Control Panel section.
